In Association with BAFTA & in Support of MediCinema

The Rocliffe New Film Forum is the most comprehensive short film forum for filmmakers - giving an in-depth insight into the often unconventional and varied ways short films are produced in the UK.

Consisting of a script reading of an early draft, screening and discussion with the writer or director and a producer of three short films, the event also includes a presentation by a renowned film body or service provider, plus a mini-trade fair.

Sponsors of the event are available prior to the main event and throughout the interval for an informal chat about the services they offer. Participants in the trade show include the British Council, Turner Classic Movies, Arista, Fuji, Lipsync Post, Kodak, Panavision, Lee Lighting, Sony, VMI, Raindance and many industry organisations such as WGGB, DGGB and the NPA. The proceeds from the event are donated to MediCinema.

The forum provides a platform for the short filmmaking process exploring the script development, production values, funding, casting, and budget considerations of three short films.

With a programme compiled by Dawn Sharpless of Dazzle Films, this event has grown in size and stature with the aim of:

  • increasing the engagement and retention of traditionally under represented short films
  • acting as a source of knowledge in the industry and the promotion of professional short filmmaking
  • serving as a convenient channel to share ideas and raise awareness of short film projects and funding

The last Rocliffe New Film Forum took place at BAFTA, 195 Piccadilly, on 20th April 2005 and was attended by more than 300 people.

MediCinema is a unique charity bringing the magic of the silver screen to patients by building state of the art cinemas in hospitals.
