under the working title of Death of a Street Fundraiser,
it explores the ways people cope with the tension between
their fantasies and the reality they are forced to endure.
A group of friends meet and tell their hard luck stories.
Their behaviour is symptomatic of a culture where people's
personal tragedies are exposed on TV shows to provide mass
entertainment - deflating empathy ever more.

in the Ladies during her welcome dinner. Her luggage is
lost and she's lent an overall while her suit is being pressed.
The other female staff presume she's just the attendant,
a temporary worker. So she finds out more about the hotel,
her staff and their miscellaneous vices, deceits and prejudices
that she could have possibly expected - as well as some
of her own

Valerie (46), a successful, divorced business woman, is
determined to get her university graduate daughter Sarah
(26), off drugs, and back on track. Peter (48), supports
Valerie, but he also supports Sarah - financially and otherwise.
Valerie imprisons Sarah in the bedroom of her house, determined
to keep her there until she has cracked her pernicious habits.
Valerie soon realises that she too, is imprisoned.

was cruel and vindictive towards his nephew and sister-in-law,
from whom he won custody. The play sets this is in conflict
with the courage and nobility of his struggle as an artist

Bacon Pieces by Neil Thompson

Iqbal, a religious prisoner is taunted by Mickey a newer
guest of Her Majesty for his beliefs. Mickey seems to want
to goad Iqbal in to fighting him to increase his standing
in the prison pecking order. Iqbal remains controlled and
doesn't react to Mickey's abuse. In fact he transfers his
duties to the prison grounds and his cell to another wing.
Mickey inherits Iqbal's old job and rises to be top dog.
Iqbal returns and Mickey tells him he expected more of a
struggle in toppling him. Mickey is then transferred to
a much tougher jail when plans for an elaborate escape are
found in his cell.

to win the love of Lucia, and enjoy a reputation as a radical
writer, but feels powerless: it's easier to sit in his favourite

with call centre operator ANISH BATRA on the phone. It's
love at first dial. Vandana and Anish have three things
in common - Bhangra, dancing and Shakespeare but there's
a problem. Unknown to Vandana, the call centre at which
Anish works is 4000 miles away in Mumbai.

Sabrina and Albert (married couple in their 50th) are on
their way to a wedding when they have to spend a few hours
in a hotel while their plane is being repaired. Sabrina
finds out that they have the wrong suitcase: It is full
with money and belongs to someone with an Italian name
a lethal combination. Sabrinas dress for the wedding
is in the Italians hands. The Italian insists that
Sabrina bring him his suitcase and she is scared. Sabrina
later tells Albert that the Italians late wife had
the same dress. He made Sabrina wear the dress and paid
her 2000 dollars. Was that all?
